COVID-19 and your wellbeing – #Coping guides for children, young people and families

Over the past few weeks, the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis has caused major disruptions to family life.  In difficult times like these, looking after our mental health is just as important as taking care of our physical health. It’s normal for everyone to feel anxious at the moment, and children and young people of all ages are just as affected as adults by the worry and stress coronavirus can cause.

To support the wellbeing of children and young people during the coronavirus pandemic, three concise guides for parents and carers and for children and young people themselves have been created. The guides list some of the best reliable and free sources of information and advice to help children and young people and their families to cope with life under lockdown. Links to the guides can be found below:

Online Radicalisation Information and Support

This is a difficult time for parents and carer and it is having a significant impact on families.  Children are likely to be spending more time online and whilst rare, there are negative influences and online groomers who use online platforms to share there extreme views and ideas.  Please click here to find out more information about the signs that someone may need help.

Are you a Parent or Carer?

The safety and welfare of children - or safeguarding - is everyone's business. You could be a neighbour, friend, parent, relative, child minder, teacher or doctor - or working for any organisation which has contact with children and young people.

Safeguarding means protecting children from physical, emotional or sexual abuse or neglect. It also means helping children to grow up into confident, healthy and happy adults.

Agencies that deal with issues involving children are keen to offer parents and carers' advice and support throughout a child or young person's life.

If you have any ideas about what you would like to see included on this website for parents or carers then please contact us on BWSCP@brighterfuturesforchildren.org
