The West Berkshire document is multiagency guidance designed to support practitioners who work with children, families, and carers in identifying needs at an early stage, and in determining the most appropriate ways to provide help, support and protection where necessary.  

This is a guide only and should not be read as a definitive list of risk factors. It is important that good quality, appropriate referrals are made to ensure that the right service is given to the right child/young person, at the right time and in the right place. However, you must use your professional experience and if you feel a child/young person is at significant risk, you should make a referral.
