Berkshire West Multi-Agency Safeguarding Arrangements

Following the publication of Working Together To Safeguard Children 2023, Berkshire West Safeguarding Children Partnership (BWSCP) has published the new arrangements for safeguarding across the Berkshire West geographical footprint. Safeguarding Children and young people continues to be a joint responsibility between Reading Borough Council, West Berkshire Council, Wokingham Borough Council, Thames Valley Police and the NHS Buckinghamshire Oxfordshire Berkshire West Integrated Care Board.

David Goosey is the BWSCP Independent Scrutineer, and Emma Cockerell, Director of Children’s Services for Wokingham Borough Council is the Chair.

The BWSCP operates with 5 Lead Safeguarding Partners.  They are:

  • Reading Borough Council – Jackie Yates, Chief Executive Officer.
  • Wokingham Borough Council – Susan Parsonage, Chief Executive Officer.
  • West Berkshire Council - Joseph Holmes, Chief Executive Officer.
  • Thames Valley Police – Jason Hogg, Chief Constable.
  • NHS Buckinghamshire Oxfordshire Berkshire West Integrated Care Board – Nick Broughton, Chief Executive Officer.

Berkshire West partners are strongly committed to the shared responsibility to safeguard and protect children and young people. Berkshire West benefits from excellent inter-agency engagement, and proactive leadership, of this shared safeguarding agenda.
